UPDATED INFO as of 22:45 on 20 October:

  • No material changes to information previously communicated on this website and in THIS DOCUMENT. Please make sure you've reviewed it and are prepared.

  • Note the PATROL LEADERS meeting in on FRIDAY at 9PM, not Saturday. For those arriving late or on Saturday morning we will do a makeup briefing at 8:30AM at HQ

  • The opening ceremony is on Saturday at 9:15 for 10 minutes and first events are at 9:30. You should come to the opening ceremony prepared to immediately go to your first event.

  • Each patrol will be given a specific sequence of events and time slots (a schedule). PLEASE follow this schedule as it's the only way we can accommodate all the competing patrols, ensure you can finish, and avoid waiting in line.

  • Here is the map of events (which you'll be handed):

Be ye ready for the Pirate Camporee?

We are eager to host you and have worked diligently to prepare. Please BE PREPARED as much as we have by completing the following actions and preparations.

  1. Please complete THIS SURVEY to let us know your final participation numbers, definite plans for arrival/departure/camping, vehicles/trailers, and several other important data points we need to make your experience safe, fun, and successful. There are new questions on this survey that we need you to answer.

  2. Please read, print out, share, and check all of the information in THIS DOCUMENT (also attached here as PDF). It includes information on Logistics and Camping and How Patrols Should Prepare and What to Bring.

  3. If you have not paid via the Cradle of Liberty Black Pug system (here) you may pay or true-up on arrival. Every paid participant will receive a camporee patch, a camporee sticker, and a mug for Pirate's Grog (birch beer). We may have some extras of these and other items available for sale at the event but there is no formal trading post or any sort of store or vending on site. Closest stores are Sunoco of Green Lane and Redner's Market in Red Hill. Closest medical facilities are MedSurg Urgent Care in Gilberstville and Grand View Hospital in Sellersville.

  4. Your unit is under the recognizance of its own registered leaders. Please plan ahead for a safe and Scouting-compliant weekend, noting the following:

    • Ensure you provide two-deep leadership and sufficient leader ratios

    • Provide your own normal camping, safety, and emergency preparations and equipment

    • Keep Scouts away from the lake and from disturbing other park patrons (the park is open to the public during daylight hours all weekend)

Please note the weather forecast for Green Lane. We had numerous Scouts feel cold and under-layered this past weekend, and it will be colder next.

Please email with any questions or concerns. You will receive another update on Thursday 20th October, and earlier updates if necessary. In case we need to send out last-minute updates, please consult the Camporee website the night before you leave and also just prior to your departure. www.bpcamporee.org

See you at the Camporee!

PRIOR INSTRUCTIONS

What participating units need to do now:

  1. Make sure you have SIGNED UP HERE (this is a Google Form which secures your registration with the event organizer).
Because of the way the camporee is scheduled, it's critical that you give us an accurate number for patrols competing. We have a limit of 50 competing patrols.

  2. Make sure you REGISTER and PAY HERE with Cradle of Liberty Council to speed up your registration when you arrive on site.

  3. Consult this WHAT TO PRACTICE page to prepare your Scouts for the competitions in Scout skills, team challenges, and creative competition.

Camping and Logistics

As we approach the event date participating units will be given detailed instructions on camping and logistics. Here are some preliminary details:

  • You may arrive any time after 3PM on Friday 21 October.

  • You will be assigned one or more campsites at Green Lane Park based upon the number of participants in your group.

  • Each campsite has a fire ring and a picnic table.

  • There are lighted bathrooms with flush toilets, and running water close by.

  • You will be able to drive up to your campsite to drop off your gear. You will be able to park all vehicles reasonably close to your site. You may be able to leave a trailer at or near your site.

  • There is potable water available near your campsite. You should bring suitable water carriers (jugs, bottles, water carriers).

  • You need to prepare all your own meals. There will be limited snacks and hydration at the event headquarters.

  • There is a dumpster available for your trash. Please make sure it's bagged well.

  • There are more details about Green Lane Park on this page.

Camporee Schedule

  • The Camporee will start with a brief opening ceremony at 8:45AM on Saturday 21 October. Events will begin very promptly at 9AM.

  • Each patrol will be given a schedule of what event they need to go to and at what time. There are 5 events in the morning (30 minute periods starting at 9 and ending at 11:30), then a break for lunch, then 5 events in the afternoon (30 minute periods starting at 12:30 and ending at 3PM). It's critical that patrols follow their schedule. If they ignore the schedule and go to an event they're not supposed to be at they will be turned away.

  • Units will have about 2.5 to 3 hours of downtime between the end of events and the evening program and awards.

  • The evening program does not require patrols to provide anything (so no skits, songs; you just need to show up and "be courteous").

  • There is no program on Sunday 23 October. You may depart at any time.
